Davidson County Education Foundation held their fifth annual “Run Friends Run” 5K Walk/Run fund-raiser last Saturday on the campus of DCCC. It was a beautifully cool morning for the 293 participants to run and walk to support the educational programs DCEF sponsors for the Davidson County Public Schools. Most of our participants were made up Davidson County Public School students and employees, all supporters of the Davidson County Public Schools.
These programs include Project Potential Scholarships offered at each high school, Leadership and STARS Academies in June, and mini-grants for teachers, administrators, and students. To learn more about these wonderful programs see their website: www.dcefnc.org.
Davidson County School Executive Director of Operations, Chris Johnson, handed out several door prizes. The Overall Winning trophies were awarded to Male: Trey Crook and Female: Lesha Sabo. DCS Board of Education members Alan Beck and Neal Motsinger were among our special guests.
DCEF would like to thank all its many sponsors for making this event a success (over $13,000 raised for programs) and our in-kind sponsors who helped make our event possible. Also, thanks to Shields’ Images in Davidson County, for documenting our event with some wonderful photos!
We look forward to our Sixth Annual “Run Friends Run” in the Fall of 2019.
