Bernard H. Thomas Leadership Academy
The Bernard H. Thomas Leadership Academy brought together young minds from across Davidson County for a week of confidence-building and leadership development at Davidson-Davie Community College, July 14-17, 2025.
Approximately 50 fifth and sixth grade students from Davidson County elementary schools participated in the program, which focused on communication skills, teamwork, and self-confidence. The weeklong academy features a series of activities that emphasize team building, decision-making, goal setting and conduct resolution while helping students discover their leadership potential.
In addition to the elementary participants, four middle school students served as junior mentors and five high school students from various schools in Davidson County served as peer mentors and role models throughout the academy, offering guidance and support to the younger students.
The academy honors the legacy of Bernard H. Thomas by continuing his commitment to youth empowerment and community engagement. The Bernard H. Thomas Leadership Academy continues to be a cornerstone program in Davidson County, fostering the next generation of community leaders.
